In Year Application Information

Moving schools at any point between Year R and Year 6 is called an ‘In-Year’ admission.

Please visit the Southampton City Council website In-year transfer - changing schools and click on ‘make an in-year application’. You will then be able to register and log on to their on-line system.

All parents have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel against the decision not to admit their child to Portswood Primary School. If you would like to appeal against this decision, please visit http://www.southampton.gov.uk/schoolappeals to complete the online appeal form.

 

Key Dates for Year R 2026 Main Admission Round:

1st September 2025	Application round opens for Year R applicants.
15th January 2026	National closing date for Year R applications.
April 2026	National Offer Day
September 2026	New intake starts at school.
